I came up in the ad world before Instagram. But with Nikau Kai, I got to explore it firsthand—building a presence that felt as handcrafted as everything else we did. What you’ll see here is a mix: reels that built awareness, paid ads that drove conversions, organic content that kept it all feeling human—and even a few animations that helped those paid ads punch through.
I cut my teeth on Flash ads—back when online banners were the front line of digital campaigns. I concepted, animated, and built out hundreds of them. Adapting ideas across formats that didn’t always play nice, while staying within strict file size limits, had its challenges—but that’s how we sharpened the craft. Animation made them more than functional—it gave them rhythm, personality, and punch, and gave me another way to communicate a message. The tools have changed, but the thinking behind good animation and solid design hasn’t.
As the brand grew, I started adding handmade artwork—pieces that echoed the vibe and reinforced the imagery found on our clothing. Every piece was cut, shaped, and painted by hand—no CNC, just me and the tools. It’s part of how I’ve kept Nikau Kai personal, tactile, and true to its roots.
This is where the vision comes to life. Strategy, design, and execution in sync. Here are a few that show how it all came together.
